Winning Entry: The Wind Waker HD Nintendo of America Fan Art Contest

I won!!! I won the top 5 grand prize for the Wind Waker HD Fan Art contest held by Nintendo of America!

Along with a Wii U and the Wind Waker HD, I will have my animation shown at the Symphony tour in Seattle during concert and in the lobby hall… which is of course amazing. But I’m honestly so honored. Maybe I’m going nuts with my feelings towards this game, but I can’t help it. I just love it.

I only wish that every fan art submission for this contest could get the recognition they deserve. There is so much fantastic work… congratulations to all of them!

Wind Waker HD Fan Art Contest (I WON - AGAIN!)

Yay! Here are storyboards I did for the Wind Waker HD Fan Art Contest held by Nintendo of America. I won the grand prize and placed in the top 5 in the country. I just wish that everyone's art could of been shown... everyone deserves to get recognition.

The Lost Song Backgrounds

Artwork I did for The Lost Song by Daedalic Entertainment. I did background painting and some character design for the whole 22 page interactive book. Really enjoyed it!

The Lost Song - Now in app stores!

Hey guys!

What a neat feeling. The first professional project I ever worked on is out! The interactive children's book "The Lost Song" by Daedalic Entertainment is now in Apple and Windows app stores. I was in charge of background painting and character designing as well as working together with everyone to achieve the right animations and feel of the book. Lots of fun times were had and I really enjoyed working together with Yury Schicker and Karen Agerbo Bennetzen (who also worked on the viral animated short "The Reward").

It has lots of animations, puzzles (natural for Ravensburger) and comes in 5 different languages for all you language savvy people out there! German, English, French, Italian and Spanish. So spread it around, Daedalic makes great stuff and it needs to be heard.

I'll be posting some artwork I did in it shortly as well as more work in the future as I try to push my work and also expand my markets. You may also see me at some conventions soon. : ) Stay tuned!

Proost,
Amanda

Pike

His name is Pike. Some pencil drawings of an old character I used in an illustration once... it's nice to revisit old inspirations sometimes. And sketching is always relaxing.

A Dragon Meeting

"Have you seen my tail?" the dragon asks...

I thought of a story about how a dragon lives in a forest and has never seen the end of his tail, but maybe someone else can help find it for him. Must be kind of frustrating! Both the final and process image for this illustration, both have different atmospheres that I like.  And I've always liked dragons and reptiles... who doesn't?

Amsterdam Pixar Expo

Visited the Pixar Animation Expo in Amsterdam. It was a really great experience, showing the history of Pixar from the first short to the artwork of their most recent film. I've actually never been a huge fan of Pixar films... but I will say getting to see some of the artwork up-close is a real treat, and even more inspiring than seeing it on the big screen. : )

Night Cellist - Development

Some image assets and storyboards for my "Night Cellist" animation in after effects. I wanted to take a pre-existing illustration of mine and try and make it into an animation. Granted, it was my first try at after effets and I learned a lot - hopefully I can keep working with animation and illustration like this in the future!

Zelda art!

I felt like these characters needed more love. The Happy Mask Salesman from Majora's Mask and Tetra from the Wind Waker. I love these games so much.

I'm back!

Well hello! After not posting here for more than just a year, many great things have happened since. I have studied in France, graduated, and worked at a video game studio in Germany! I'm now in the Netherlands and working on freelance. I've decided to go ahead and keep this blog active. Why not! I'll be posting some pictures I've done since I last posted here. So ... I'm back! : )
